By Shelley Gilchrist, Recruitment Resourcer for Eventus Finance and Eventus Recruitment Cheshire.
So in September 2021, after being out of a working environment for nearly 3 years, I started working for Eventus Recruitment Cheshire as a Recruitment Resourcer.
Unfortunately on my 3 year hiatus I wasn’t travelling around the world having great adventures, going on safari or swimming with sharks … I was raising my Son and Daughter. It was an adventure, some days you feel like you’d rather be swimming with sharks!
Before kids I worked as a Recruitment Consultant for 10 years, recruiting medical professionals for the MoD. When I returned to work I knew I wanted to be part time so I could still be there for the kids at least 2 days a week. Luckily I found Eventus Recruitment Cheshire and they were happy to accommodate working 3 days as a Recruitment Resourcer. It feels good to still be in a recruitment environment, something I was familiar with and feel like I am still able to use all the knowledge I have gained over the years.
My new role coincided with the opening of a new office in Wilmslow, Cheshire. I’m enjoying starting something from the beginning and being part of its story and success. Working alongside my colleague Jo Hood, Recruitment Consultant, over the first 6 months we have made a great team and are going from strength-to-strength. I feel very lucky that we are starting this new venture together and truly believe we can make it a success (it also helps that we like each other and enjoy each other’s boring stories).
Working as a Recruitment Resourcer, it’s pretty much what it says on the tin. I’m recruiting and sourcing candidates from job boards, social media and through our extensive database. It has allowed me to still make an impact and feel like I’m working towards a goal. I would definitely recommend this career route for any consultants out there. It doesn’t feel like a step back but a great opportunity to dip my toe back into recruitment. It’s also a fantastic route for someone wanting to start a career in recruitment and to gain all the skills and knowledge required to be successful in this industry.
To work as a Recruitment Resourcer you need to enjoy building rapport with candidates, be methodical and organised, and have good written and communication skills.
Overall, I’m pleased that I have found a great company that offers flexibility with the development to go further once I feel in a position to do so. I would 100% recommend recruitment to anyone who would like a rewarding career.
