Working in recruitment marketing – the most challenging and rewarding sector
Since my career started in marketing and communications I’ve worked in many sectors, including property, sport, education and now recruitment. I can honestly say that my first 3 months working in recruitment have been the most rewarding and the challenge I needed after 4 years in my previous role. Here is what I’ve learnt so far…
◊ The recruitment industry is under the radar – The ironic thing is that although school career education and careers fairs are ultimately a recruitment exercise for different sectors, recruitment is a sector that is often missed from these activities and not considered as a universal career option.
◊ I would absolutely recommend using a recruiter – having never used a recruiter before to find work, having now seen first-hand what the Recruitment Consultants do here at The Eventus Recruitment Group, I would 100% use a recruiter in future. They are ethical in everything they do and genuinely care about their candidates and clients. They always get the candidates written permission before they contact companies on their behalf. Seeing how excited the consultants get when a candidate gets an offer is a real buzz; knowing that they have made a positive impact to someone’s career is what makes recruitment a truly amazing job. Not only does their work make a difference to people’s professional lives, but quite often it also improves their personal lives. Sometimes that job offer is what allows someone to relocate closer to their friends and family.
◊ We ourselves have to be at the forefront of change – Since 2020 many of us have come to realise the importance of a healthy work-life balance and flexible working. As a result, our recruitment consultants are spending more time negotiating enhanced contracts for our candidates. In order for them to do it to the best of their ability, our Directors at The Eventus Recruitment Group believe that the consultants need to experience the same benefits.
◊ From a marketing perspective there is so much to consider – in recruitment there isn’t just one customer. There’s clients and candidates, both of whom have completely separate requirements and need a different approach. In 2022 having an online presence is going to be important. As well as ensuring that our adverts stand out and that our branding is relevant and consistent across all channels.
